Evans said that Walker and his wife, Patricia, were at home this morning at the time of the shooting. He would not confirm any other details of what happened.

Wow...my prayers go out to his family in there time of great sorrow.

Crazy day today, another senseless death as well...this time it's a Honor Student.

A Violent Altercation in Chicago Has Left One Student Dead and Three Teens Arrested for Murder

An honor student was beaten to death in Chicago, and it is being seen around the world in what is being called the "Chicago beating video". It is extremely tragic that this honor student has lost his life, and it seems that the culprit at the center of the entire thing is gang violence.

There are several stories out there right now about exactly what an honor student was beaten to death, but the three men that were responsible have already been caught due to a couple of videos that were filmed at the scene. The video is linked at the end of this article, but it is very graphically violent, and should only be viewed with that warning in mind.

Derrion Albert was the high school student who was killed last week, and is described by his mother as being an honor student at Frenger High School. While on his way home from school, violence erupted, and Albert was beaten by three other teens. This is where the details of the story are a bit foggy, as three possible reasons for Albert being the victim are being explored according to USA Today and the Chicago Tribune. The first is that Derrion Albert was approached to join the gang and refused, leading to the beating. The second is that he was just an innocent bystander who got caught up in the violence. The third, according to commenters on the USA Today story, is that Albert was trying to help a friend, and ended up being beaten for it.

In the "Chicago beating video", it is clear that Albert was killed by wooden boards as many other people stood by and watched. It's a scary thought that something like this could happen to such a great kid, and brings fears to everyone in that community that it could possibly happen to anyone. That right there is the reason that these Chicago gangs are getting away with crimes such as these, because witnesses are afraid to speak up about what is going on. When faced with the choice of reporting a crime by a gang with hundreds of members at putting your family at risk, or staying quiet and hoping for the best, many citizens may never be willing to actually stand up and point out what the criminals are doing.
